Dmitry Timofeev is a Russian composer-autodidact.

He was born in St. Petersburg in 1983.

At 15 years he began studying music. During this period of time he studied musical notation, harmony, counterpoint, orchestration and playing musical instruments by himself.

He was a student of Dmitry Gridnev (12.04.1981-02.09.2021)

Dmitry was a student of drummer Anton Matashev

Class of rhythm (St. Petersburg, 2002)

 

His work "Angel" was selected to be in the finals of the composer’s competition "Step aleft" (St. Petersburg, 2008)

Dmitry was a participant of the First, Second and Sixth International Academies of the Moscow Ensemble of Contemporary Music

in Tchaikovsky city under professors: Pierluigi Billone,

Franck Bedrossian, Klaus Lang, Mark Andre, 

Dmitri Kourliandski, Oscar Bianchi, Fabien Lévy, 

Sergej Newski, Michael Smetanin and Carola Bauckholt

Dmitry won the online competition of scores and signed a contract with the Internet publishing Babelscores: contemporary music online. (St. Petersburg, 2012)

 

He received a commission from the curator of the Moscow Festival

artistic director Kirill Serebrennikov (Moscow, 2012)

"Listening to Architecture, Composing Spaces" of 

PRO ARTE Foundation, director Elena Kolovskaya, coordinator Catherine Puzankova, he studied contemporary music of Denmark (Copenhagen, 2013)

 

Dmitry was a participant in the 10th competition of composers "Pythian Games," organized by composer Boris Filanovsky

(St. Petersburg, 2014)

He visited the master classes of professors:

Beat Furrer, Clemens Gadenstätter (Graz, 2014)

 

Dmitry was selected by the ISCM (International Society of Contemporary Music), director Izabela Duchnowska, 

where for his piece "Contrabass Duo" was awarded the

"Special Mention prize" (Wroclaw, 2014)

 

He had an audition and was enrolled to a Rimsky-Korsakov music school, director Tatiana Orlova, specializing in piano under the guidance of teachers:
